Add items to a work order¶
What this is for¶
List the parts a technician should take, then mark what they actually installed — so you can bill or restock later.
Concepts¶
On View Work Order, the Product icon adds a required part. Tabs:
- Items Required — planned parts
- Items Installed — what was used
Add Required Item: Item, Quantity, Work Order, Description. Save.
On a required row, Install Item opens Add Item Installed (item is already chosen). Set Quantity. Optional: Bill Item ? (then Unit Price), Serial Number if the product is serial-controlled. Save.
On an installed row: Complete Item, Edit Item Installed, Delete Product (Are you sure you want to delete?).
The Product icon always starts a required line. Installing is the handshake on that row.
Before you start¶
- A work order exists.
- The catalog item exists. For serials, Inventory is on and numbers are in stock.
Steps¶
- Open View Work Order.
- Click Product. In Add Required Item, choose Item, set Quantity, optional Description. Click Save.
- On Items Required, click Install Item when the part is used.
- In Add Item Installed, confirm Quantity. Tick Bill Item ? if the customer should pay for it. Pick Serial Number if it appears. Click Save.
- On Items Installed, Complete Item when that line is finished.
What happens next¶
If Bill Item ? was on, the charge can land on billable items. Log time on a task for labor.
If something looks wrong¶
- No Product icon. You are on the case, not View Work Order.
- Serial Number is missing. The item is not serial-controlled, Inventory is off, or there is no available serial.
- Install Item is missing. You are on Items Installed — go to Items Required.
