See who owes you money¶
What this is for¶
See unpaid customer invoices (and how stale they are) so you can collect.
Concepts¶
Reports → Clients → Open balances is the aging-style list of what customers still owe.
Invoices filtered to unpaid / overdue is the operational list (same debt, document by document). Status becomes Overdue when Due Date is in the past — including after you edit the date. If email is on, the customer can get Invoice overdue. A late-fee line is separate: Set late fees.
Vendor money you owe is See what you owe vendors (Reports → Providers → Open balances), not this job.
Before you start¶
- You have published invoices. Drafts do not count as owed.
Steps¶
- Open Reports.
- Under Clients, click Open balances.
- Read who still owes you. Drill into a customer or invoice if the report offers the link.
- Optional: open Invoices and filter to unpaid / overdue to work the queue.
What happens next¶
Record a payment when they pay. Issue a credit if you will write off or reverse.
If something looks wrong¶
- A draft still appears. Publish or delete it — Pending is not a balance.
- Paid invoice still listed. Payment was not applied to that invoice. Open Payments on the customer and check allocation.
