Ship a delivery order¶
What this is for¶
Move a draft delivery through confirm and assign until the goods are marked Shipped (on the way or handed off).
Concepts¶
Toolbar icons on View Delivery follow status:
| Status | Next action |
|---|---|
| Draft | Confirm |
| Confirmed | Assign (delivery method) |
| Assigned | Assign again if you change method, then Shipped |
| Shipped | Complete a delivery (or return) |
Assign opens the delivery method dialog (who / how it goes). Shipped is the dolly icon.
You can Cancel a delivery before it ships (Draft / Confirmed / Assigned). After Shipped, use complete or return instead.
Before you start¶
- The delivery exists (Create a delivery order).
- If Inventory is on and items are serial-controlled, numbers are in order so Shipped is allowed.
Steps¶
- Open the delivery (Delivery Orders on the customer, or Delivery Order from the invoice).
- Click Confirm.
- Click Assign. Edit Delivery Method opens. Choose Delivery Method. Carriers appears for the carrier method (Choose shipping carriers); Vehicles for the vehicle method (Add a vehicle). Click Update.
- Click Shipped.
Print to PDF any time you need a packing slip.
What happens next¶
When the customer has the goods: Complete a delivery.
If they never leave / come back: Return goods to the warehouse from Shipped.
If something looks wrong¶
- Shipped is missing. Status is not Assigned, or serials are still required (Inventory).
- Cannot confirm Delivery order. Invoice status is Draft. Publish the invoice first.
- You confirmed the wrong warehouse. Edit while still Draft if the product still allows it; otherwise cancel and generate again.
