Move stock between warehouses

What this is for

Send quantity from one of your warehouses to another so each location’s on-hand is right.

Concepts

Needs Inventory. Transfer Stock is the list. Add New Transfer Stock has From Warehouse and To Warehouse.

To Warehouse must be Enforced (check stock). Unlimited warehouses cannot receive ledger stock.

A transfer starts as draft. Confirm Item posts it. Shipments for the transfer (if you use that path) are Transfer Stock Shipments.

This is not a customer delivery. Customer shipping is Create a delivery order.

Before you start

  • At least two warehouses. Destination is enforced.
  • Qty exists at the source (enforced source is checked).

Steps

  1. Open Transfer Stock.
  2. Click Add Transfer. In Add New Transfer Stock, choose From Warehouse, To Warehouse, date, and lines/qty. Save.
  3. Open the transfer. Click Confirm Item (or confirm on the document). Confirm the dialog.

If you ship the transfer as a warehouse-to-warehouse delivery, use Transfer Stock Shipments from that transfer.

What happens next

See stock in Product List or See stock by warehouse.

If something looks wrong

  • Destination refused. You picked an Unlimited warehouse as To Warehouse.
  • Source and target must be different. Pick two locations.
  • Insufficient stock at source. Receive or count first, or lower the qty.
