Assemble a product

What this is for

Build a manufactured item from components in a warehouse so finished qty goes up and parts go down.

Concepts

Needs Inventory. Manufacturing is the list. Add New Manufacturing picks the finished Item (type manufactured), Quantity, and Warehouse.

Set the recipe on the catalog item first: Products & Services → Edit Item → Materials. Columns are Product, Qty per unit, Unit, and Action. Plus is Add Product. Save each line. Edit Manufacture Items then shows those components with Qty per unit.

Components must already be in that same warehouse. You complete a Draft manufacture on Edit Manufacture Items, then confirm like other inventory documents.

Before you start

  • Manufactured item in the catalog (Manufactured Item) with at least one Materials line.
  • Component stock at an Enforced warehouse.
  • Inventory Enabled.

Steps

  1. Open the manufactured item (Products & Services → Edit Item → Materials). Add each component (Add Product), set Qty per unit, save the lines, then Update.
  2. Open Manufacturing.
  3. Add a run. In Add New Manufacturing, choose Item, Quantity, and Warehouse. Save.
  4. On Edit Manufacture Items, confirm components, Qty per unit, and serials if asked.
  5. Confirm the manufacture so it posts.

What happens next

Finished goods show on Product List. Sell them on an invoice like any other good.

If something looks wrong

  • Component must be from the manufacture warehouse. Transfer parts in first.
  • Serial of a part is elsewhere. Move stock or pick another serial.
  • The item is not in the dropdown. Type on the catalog is not Manufactured Item.
  • Materials is missing on Edit Item. Type is not Manufactured Item.
