Turn a module on

What this is for

Add a paid extra to your company — for example inventory, card payments, or email — so those menus and jobs appear. The plan is the base subscription; modules extend it.

Concepts

Modules live under Company Settings. The Modules tab lists add-ons with a short Description. Done For You Services are a second row (work EpicBiz can run for you). Names and copy come from the catalog on that screen.

A module has three states you will see on its page:

You see Meaning
Disabled Not in your subscription.
Active You turned it on. Finish the configuration on that page before you rely on it.
Enabled Configured and ready.

Turning one on adds a Monthly line under Modules on the Dashboard (or FREE if the price is zero).

On the free plan, modules stay gray: Modules can only be enabled under a paid plan. Change your plan first.

Inventory is optional. Service (cases, work orders, time) is always in the product — it is not this job.

After Inventory is Enabled, warehouse mode and bins are on each warehouse address (Add a warehouse). The Inventory module page lists Recommended setup and a read-only Warehouses table.

After email is Enabled, fill SMTP on that same module page (Host, Username, Password, From Name, From Address, SMTP Port, SMTP Encryption — SSL (typical port 465), TLS (typical port 587), or No Encryption), then Save. Templates are a separate job: Edit email templates.

Before you start

  • You can Log in as someone who can open Company Settings.
  • You are on a paid plan if you want to enable add-ons. If not, Change your plan first.
  • You accept that enabling a priced module increases the monthly fee (the confirm dialog shows the amount).

Steps

  1. Click the gear. On Company Settings, open Modules (cubes in the toolbar), or click Enable additional modules on Configuration Tasks.
  2. Read the cards. Gray means off or locked by the free plan. Click the module name (not the switch on the list — that switch is only a display).
  3. On the module page, use Click to change status to turn it on.
  4. In Enable (module name), read the price message. Open Terms and conditions if you need them, accept if the form asks, then Yes, I am sure.
  5. If you see Module is active. Complete the configuration below to start using it. (or Configuration missing back on the list), fill that module’s fields on the same page (cards, inventory, email — whatever that module shows). Save as the page instructs.
  6. When you see Module is configured and ready to use. / Enabled, you are done. The Dashboard Modules list should include it.

To turn one off later: same page, switch off, confirm Disable in the dialog.

What happens next

For Inventory: Set up Inventory configuration may appear on Configuration Tasks. Then Add a warehouse and mark products as tracked.

For email: save SMTP on the module page, then Edit email templates. For cards: Manage saved cards.

Otherwise continue Set up your company, or start selling (Add a customer, Create an invoice).

If something looks wrong

  • Everything is gray and a red banner tells you to upgrade. You are still on the free plan.
  • The module is Active but the menu you expected is missing. Finish the configuration on the module page until it is Enabled.
  • Inventory is on but products do not track stock. After enable, the product may remind you to edit products for inventory control — that is Add a product or service, not this one.
  • Email is on but nothing sends. Host, From Address, and the other SMTP fields on the module page are still empty, or you have not Saved them.
